Popular 'Baby Jowo' highlife crooner, Dr. Victor Abimbola Olaiya, has revealed the first huge amount of money he made from music.
According to the veteran music act, he was paid one thousand five hundred pounds sterling when he was nominated to play at the Independence Day in the year 1960.

The unimaginable sum of money which was paid to him, spurred reactions from other fellow musicians, as they protested by carrying placards to the House of Reps, for nominating him alone to play at the Independence Day. But for the intervention of Late Bobby Benson, other musicians and Prime Minister Tafewa Balewa, who calmed them down and asked that they should gather themselves and form a joint band to support his(Victor Olaiya) band and at the end of the day they were paid the sum of 600 pounds which was compared to mine, he went on to say.
