Police arrest pastor at cementry over alleged rituals
Asaba – The Police in Delta said they had arrested a pastor of one of the Pentecostal churches in the state at a cemetery in Ozoro while allegedly performing rituals with a teenage girl.
The command's Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, a Deputy Superintendent of Poilce, said in a statement on Saturday in Asaba that the pastor was arrested by detectives acting on a tip-off.
“On July 30, 2015, at about 10.30 p.m., a police surveillance patrol team from Ozoro division, while on routine patrol arrested one Pastor Oro Oboreh of Christ Freedom Family, Ozoro, in a cemetery.
“The suspect was arrested with a teenage girl, Chioma Praise, aged 14 years.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed that he was performing spiritual healing on the said Chioma Praise to enable her attain academic prowess,” Kalu said.
She said that the suspect was police custody and that investigation into the matter had commenced. (NAN)
