UNO Survey Indicts Police, PHCN as Most Corrupt Nigeria Public Institutions
The United Nations has labeled the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and Power Holden Company of Nigeria (PHCN) as mostly corrupt public institutions in Nigeria.
The indictment by the office on Drugs and Crimes of United Nations is jointly produced by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Officials of the agencies today, July 1 in Abuja disclosed that crime and corruption represents over seventy-five percent of obstacles to the setting up of businesses in the country.
The report also shows that bribery in small enterprises is more frequent in the southern part of the country.
In the recent past, nationwide corruption survey identified the Nigerian Police as the most corrupt organisation in the country, closely followed by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
The survey results, which echoed a previous corruption finding in previous years, was released by the Independent Advocacy Project (IAP), a non-governmental organisation which focuses on good governance in Nigeria.
