She Stole Our Ovaries, tells the harrowing story of two teenagers, Theresa Obam and Precious Umeayo, who fell victim to a woman illegally harvesting their eggs. The special was released on December 14th by filmmaker and TV host Chude Jideonwo. The parents of the victims shared how their efforts to seek justice have proven futile.

Mrs Agnes Obam, Theresa’s mum, shared, “When I went to the police station, the police, the doctors, and their lawyers were all there. They asked to confirm that she was my child, and they told me to stop everything and bury the case. They said they didn’t want it to get on social media, that we should just bury the case”.

Reverend Ikechukwu Umeayo shared how the police and the lawyers kept stalling the case, and the doctors later refused to show up. He stated that one of the lawyers also offered them money to settle the case. “One of the lawyers said let us settle this thing with money’ he said they had discussed with each other, and I said to them, ‘I do not need your money’. One of the doctors from Redwood offered to train Theresa in school, maybe because he wanted her to keep giving them eggs. If my wife was alive, this wouldn’t have happened to my child, so I want justice, and I want their work to stop.”

He spoke further on how he discovered the incident when his daughter had a near-death experience, one Sunday night. “At about 2 am, I started hearing sounds like someone wanted to vomit and it was not coming out. I started hearing ‘Daddy help me’. As I opened the door that led to their room, I saw Precious naked, trying to vomit, crawling on the floor. I was wondering what happened, Is this malaria? Is it for a typhoid? What is happening with you? She just kept saying, ‘Daddy help me’. I was saying ‘Your mother died two years ago, you want to leave me like this. I never come out of this one. This one is coming up. Tell me what is happening.’ The doctor then told me that her stomach and intestinal had ruptured and opened and that she could no longer eat something that goes through her very well. that if she wants to go to the toilet or pass urine, they have to put a pipe inside of her. I fainted.”
