Daniel Regha Questions Tyla's Afrobeats Win
Popular social media critic and celebrity tormentor, Daniel Regha, has queried why South African singer, Tyla, keeps winning Afrobeats awards.
Daniel Regha's question stems from Tyla's latest win at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) in Los Angeles on Thursday night, in which she clinched the awards of the two Afrobeats categories: ‘Top Afrobeats Song’ and ‘Top Afrobeats Artist.'
According to Regha, Tyla represents Amapiano, yet she is still scooping the awards meant for Afrobeats artiste. He wonders how other Afrobeats artiste who do their best to promote the genre are still not winning awards meant for them.
Daniel Regha wrote on X:
"Tyla clearly represents Amapiano; She said that herself after winning the 2024 VMAs, & she's clearly not an Afrobeats artist judging by her songs, so how come she keeps winning "Afrobeats Awards" over musicians who actually push & promote the Afrobeat genre. This is wrong."
