Lojay Speaks On Challenges Rich-Shaming In The Entertainment Industry
Nigerian singer, Lekan Osifeso Junior, popularly known as Lojay, has stated that rich kids do not have it easy in the music industry.
The singer explained that generally in the entertainment industry, rich kids hardly receive support, because of the notion from people that they have an edge.
He made this known during a recent interview with City 105.1 FM, Lagos, he, however, claimed that he is an exceptional talent, despite coming from a rich home, and no one can rich-shame him.
Nigerians like rich-shaming. It’s not limited to just the music industry. Once they feel like you have an edge… It’s funny because rich kids don’t have an edge. If anything, they come into the music industry on the back foot because people feel they are already rich and don’t deserve much support,” he said.
The Interviewer questioned, “Did you ever experience that?”
Lojay responde, “I’m undeniably talented. They can’t try that with me. Let them challenge me on the mic.
"Mine was an inevitable situation. I heard myself before I decided to be an artist. I didn’t deceive myself. I have never done payola. My parents didn’t use their wealth to influence people to accept my music. My rich background has not influenced my career positively. If anything, being from a rich home is a disadvantage in the music industry.”
