By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Music executive and talent manager Paulo Okoye has bemoaned the declining rate of the Afrobeats genre in the world.

According to him, Afrobeats is no longer as popular and lucrative as before. He noted that it is only a few Afrobeats artistes that are making profits from the genre.

Paulo Okoye made this known on his Instagram page, where he noted that Afrobeats still had relevance 3 years ago, but it has greatly declined now. He claimed that he can easily count the Afrobeats artistes who are still making money at the moment.

He wrote on his Instagram page:
"Afrobeats is going through a lot lately!! Every Afrobeat artist was doing way better 3 years ago compared to today!!

Only a few are making money at the moment, and that’s a fact!!

I can count on my one hand the Afrobeat artists who are making money Now!!

Globally things are falling apart for Afrobeats.
Locally, it’s even worse: no money anywhere.
Our bright stars will continue to shine and the world will continue to recognize our greatness.

Afrobeat is going through a lot lately."
