Folakemi Falana Tackles VeryDarkMan, Tells Him To Prefer To Meet In Court
The saga involving self-acclaimed activist VeryDarkMan, cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, best known as Bobrisky, the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Femi Falana, and Falz has been the trending topic on social media since the beginning of the week.
The Nigerian Voice recalls that activist VeryDarkMan released a video across his social media pages requesting cross-dresser Bobrisky to repay a loan of 4 million Naira that he borrowed from a friend and refused to pay back.
VeryDarkMan, in another video, also released a leaked audio recording in which Bobrisky revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) collected the sum of 15 million Naira to remove the money laundering charge against him. The leaked audio also suggested that Falz and his father, Femi Falana, collected the sum of 10 million Naira to clear Bobrisky's name off the record and grant him a presidential pardon.
The leaked audio further disclosed that Bobrisky spent his six-month prison term in an apartment close to the prison through the influence of his godfather and the controller general of prison in Abuja.
In response to VeryDarkMan's accusation, Falz and his father, Femi Falana, through their respective counsels, sent a warning letter requesting VeryDarkMan to retract every defamatory remark made against them within 24 hours, after which, if he declined, he would be charged to court.
Reacting to the current brouhaha, the daughter of Femi Falana and sister to Falz, Folakemi Falana has tackled VeryDarkMan's claim against her father and brother.
Setting the records straight, she noted that her father, through their firm "Falana & Falana, has been applying for presidential pardons free of charge for many Nigerians. She shared some images of previous pardons made by her family to support her claim.
She further criticized VeryDarkMan for accusing her father and brother Falz of taking money from her. to evade justice. She noted that she was disappointed in Nigerians for believing VeryDarkMan's claim without verifying, despite the good works that her family has constantly put into activism.
Furthermore, she stated that VeryDarkMan's insinuation of Falz being gay was very wrong and, in fact, unacceptable.
Talking about the presidential pardon, she stated that anyone can get it for a convicted person. She also revealed that her father and Bobrisky have never had any form of contact in any way.
She also disclosed that Bobrisky reached out to Falz to request money to afford the VIP section of the prison, and that was the only reason Falz obliged him; she stated that they never discussed any presidential pardon, contrary to VeryDarkMan's allegations.
She wrote on Instagram:
"My Parents and our firm, Falana & Falana have been applying for presidential pardons for Nigerians FREE way before a lot of you were born or before you could talk. Slide 1 is from 2016 and Slide 2 is from 2022.
“It's crazy that some Nigerians act like they can't read or think for themselves. It's unfortunate.
“It's even crazier that all it takes is for a ridiculous character like VDM to accuse my dad and Falz of bribery, corruption, and perversion of the course of Justice, and you suddenly forget who they are and what they stand for.
"For him to have the audacity to go as far as even accusing Falz of being homosexual and having an affair with Bobrisky is wild. The fact that some of you actually believe it, is what is blowing my mind.
“For the record, anyone can write the president to request a pardon for any convicted person in Nigeria.
“To be crystal clear, the facts are as follows: My dad has never met or talked to Bobrisky whether directly or via a proxy
"Bobrisky reached out to Falz the same way he reached out to many other celebrities asking for money. The reason he gave was so that he could afford to stay in the VIP section of prison. He never ever discussed a presidential pardon with him. He said he was reaching out from prison, Falz had no reason to believe otherwise.
“Do you really think my dad or Falz need Bob's money??? For what?”
“Seeing as you have refused to do the needful, @verydarkblackman see you in court."
