Madam Kofo hails Glo
Popular actress, Abiola Atanda (alias Madam Kofo), has commended Globacom for its support and promotion of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
She gave the commendation while presenting posthumous awards to departed Nigerian actors, actresses and musicians at the maiden edition of the City People Entertainment Awards held last weekend at the Valley View auditorium, Government House, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Resplendent in green traditional attire and her trade mark headgear, the Glo ambassador while commending the City People Group for the Awards noted that in its usual style, Globacom has given its support as one of the major sponsors.
"Globacom is a company that is committed to the development of the entertainment industry, a company that has given recognition to some of us by making us more popular and proud as its brand ambassadors", she said.
She added that Globacom's partnership with City People to honour those who have excelled in the entertainment industry is also a clarion call to professionals within the industry to wake up and rule their world by constantly improving themselves and clinching top awards such as the City People Entertainment Awards.
With Globacom as one of the major sponsors, the City People Entertainment Awards was organised to reward deserving personalities in the entertainment industry who have churned out outstanding movies and songs, not leaving out stand-up comedians who have become a critical component of the Nigerian showbiz industry.
The awards venue dazzled in Glo green as the telecoms giant made its presence known with its unique and superlative branding right from the main entrance to the red carpet and the stage of the glamorous Valley View Auditorium located at Government House, Abeokuta, where the event took place.
Popular entertainers honoured at the awards amongst others, were Oliver de Coque, Sunny Okosuns, Fela Anikulapo Kuti (posthumous category).
Also, popular actors and actresses such as Funsho Adeolu, Ramsey Noah, Genevieve Nnaji, Desmond Elliot, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal were honoured in the Nollywood category while others such as Olu Jacobs, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Tunde Kelani, Ali Baba, Zeb Ejiro, and Clarion Chukwurah were given the Special Recognition awards.
The Award ceremony was hosted and attended by the Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and his wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel.
