A Nigerian pastor, Famakinwa, and head pastor of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ayede Ogbese, in the Akure North council area of the state, has been sentenced to prison for having impregnated a 16 year-old girl through rape.

Following the case in the court, Mrs. Helen Falowo, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, at the Ondo State Ministry of Justice , filled a Suit No: AK/195C/2021 on behalf of the Ondo State Government.

The pastor is charged on two crimes by the Ondo State court - the first is the unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, contrary to Section 31(1)of the Child’s Rights Law of Ondo State, and secondly is sexually abusing a teen which is an exploitation contrary to Section 32 (1).

According to Mrs. Falow, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, the suspect regularly had carnal knowledge of the victim at his home, where the victim's family was a tenant.

She continued by saying that the defendant is also accused of sexually assaulting the woman at the market square, where he took her under the pretense of rescuing her from evil spirits.

“He continued in this dastardly act unabashedly till the innocent minor became pregnant in October 2021.”she said.

The court however found the pastor guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in prison for rape and impregnating a minor.
