LET'S PRAY FOR NOLLYWOOD
At a time like this, Nollywood definitely needs some prayers. This is because within the last one year, Nollywood has lost a few stars such as JT Tom-West, Funso Alabi and others.
Now we have also lost Emma Agu, one of the pioneers of Nollywood, and a notable script writer followed by film maker, Ebereonwu. Nobody knows who is next.
Ejike Asiegbu the AGN president must be wondering too if there was anything he could do to stop the tragedy, but alas who has the power to do so except God.
Apart from death a few of them have also been caught in the process of trafficking in illicit drugs which is beginning to put a question mark on the integrity of artistes in the country.
However in spite of the bad news of recent deaths good things are also happening. The industry has continued to grow.
As at today there are about four movie awards in the country already and the annual awards have really improved the output of Nollywood.
In the Yoruba movie sector the ladies are getting married while others are establishing relationships with foreign based Nigerians as usual.
For example Bisi Ibidapo- Obe has made it known that she would be toeing the line of Opeyemi Ayeola very soon. How soon that would be we don't know but let us keep our fingers crossed.
