The red carpet at the Soundcity Music Video Awards, which held last Saturday in Lagos, was fab and commendable; especially with well-executed the fashion show that made many marvel. Celebs posed for the cameras, moving on in twos and three to the cocktail area before settling down to meet-and-greet and savour the models parading the runway.

But, through it all, one important figure was missing and nowhere to be found. His name is Denrele Edun - Soundcity VJ and Nigeria's number one red carpet presenter; the one man who has anchored all Soundcity red carpet events for as long as we can remember.

It remains unclear where the eccentric presenter-producer was on the day, and why he was 'conspicuously missing'. And, as our reporters continue to investigate, sources say there may be more to his absence than meets the eyes.

'I didn't attend the awards yesterday cz of no reason at all. It's fun to shock peeps upfront. Pple ivn luk under red carpet 4me' he wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

'Y is everyone buzzing bout the fact that i'm not at d SMVAs? Am lounging in a secret corner! The red carpet can survive without me for a day' he also wrote on his Twitter page (@punjahpunjee)…

'He claimed he was around the venue, and would show up on the red carpet. I'm really surprised he never did' one of his close friends tells us. There are already speculations all is not well between him and the management of Soundcity. But we can not confirm this for now.
