South Africans and the music lovers are taken by shock emanating from the unprecedented death of one of their brilliant rappers, Kiernan AKA Forbes.

Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known professionally as AKA, was a South African rapper. Born and raised in Cape Town, Forbes gained recognition after releasing his single "Victory Lap" from his debut studio album, Altar Ego in 2010.

According to Arise news, Police sources in Durban have confirmed that rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes was shot dead in a drive-by shooting on Florida Road on Friday night. Some other persons, too sufferered similar fate. However, one of AKA’s bodyguards was wounded, while another unidentified person, who was learnt to be AKA's friend was shot dead.

It was also reported that AKA who was to perform at a Durban night club, YUGO, where he was expected to perform as part of his birthday celebrations was heavily shot. This tragic incedent happened while he was standing outside the Wish Restaurant in a drive-by shooting. Two unknown cars were believed to have opened fire just before 10pm, and according to report AKA was the target of the drive-by shooting.
