Don’t Pay To Join Choc City—Audu Maikori Warns
Audu Maikori, who recently announced his intention to step down as CEO of Chocolate City, has warned artistes not to give money to anyone who promises to help them into the music label.
A post surfaced on Facebook and Twitter informing artistes looking forward to be signed by Choc City to pay the sum of N60,000 for registration.
“Chocolate City record label is currently signing up talented artists…interested artists are to pay a fee of sixty thousand (60) naira only for the label form and other documents,” the said post read.
But Audu, who has been steering the affairs of the entertainment outfit for the past 10 years, said the post is from an impostor.
“Please note this post on Facebook and Twitter is fake and a fraud. #BeGuided @choccitymusic @choclife_cbn. kindly repost pls,” he pleaded.
Chocolate City was founded in 2005 and presently boasts of artistes like MI, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, Ruby Gyang, Nosa, Victoria Kimani, Loose Kaynon, DJ Caise and DJ Lambo. Audu's resignation is expected to take effect from July 1, 2015.
