Alibaba Explains Controversial ‘Chibok Girls’ Comments
Ace Nigerian comedian, Alibaba has shed light on what he said about the Federal Government's efforts in the rescue of the over 200 missing schoolgirls of the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
The humour merchant had expressed his uncertainty on the safe rescue of the girls when he said the girls might not be found in one piece after over a year they were abducted by some terrorists in Nigeria called Boko Haram.
He had said, "Do not mean to burst your bubble, but if we expect, after one year, that the Chibok girls would be in one place waiting to be rescued... haha! We cannot find the Chibok girls again in one piece. The idea that we can is laughable and I will continue to say that. I still support the cause."
But his statements received mixed reactions from Nigerians, who rebuked him, claiming he was making a joke out of the issue.
"Cruel comedy; you make an obvious observation, but how insensitive to find the hope of others regarding the Chibok girls amusing," a fan said while reacting.
However, Alibaba has explained what he meant by his statement.
"Like I mentioned a year ago, to help achieve the cause, our government should put out a huge finders' fee. Even the Israeli forces will join. I pray our girls are found, anyhow we can. It's the only way the parents can have closure," he reacted.
