Busta Rhymes Show: We held on to our credibility —P.Square
COMING out from a show that never happened in Grand Hotel in Asaba, Delta State, hip hop sensation, P-Square has come out to say that they treasured their reputation and credibility more than money.
“We are very credible individuals and have gotten to this point in our lives through hard work, we would never under any circumstances compromise it,” Paul told Trend'tainment recently after their show with U.S rap star, Busta Rhymes who was the star act, failed to hold.
According to Jude Engees Okoye, elder brother producer manager of the duo, Busta Rhymes had all the intentions of coming for the show if not for the handling of his fees which an Nigerian international booking agent, Idono Edwor who failed to pay Busta Rhymes adequate advance payment despite the fact that they made the funds available to her.
“We don't know why she went on paying Busta Rhymes in pieces when she had the bulk of the fund to pay him,” he said.
He went on to say that their fans had insisted that they go on with the show as they primarily came to see P-Square, Timaya and other Nigerian artistes billed for the show not Busta Rhymes but they (P-Square) had to cancel the show because they promised their fans Busta Rhymes and had to stand by their words.
“We are credible people and in this business, credibility matters so that is why we had to give fans their back money,” Paul said. As for the planned studio collaboration which they were supposed to do with Busta Rhymes, the artistes who were nominated in both the MOBO Awards and Channel O Music Video awards said would be sorted out with the American.
When asked what their plans were concerning the agent that may have jeopardized the show, Engees replied, “We will meet her and know how to sort things out in the best interest of everybody,” he said. The group had spent over N24m to have the American artiste feature at the show.
