Prof. Wole Soyinka Advocates for Cancer Patients After Being Cured
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has called on the Federal government of Nigeria to hasten the establishment of cancer cntres in some parts of the state to early detection of the disease.
Soyinka revealed that he was once a cancer victim in 2013 when he discovered that he had the disease and had to go for treatment which he was later declared cancer free acknowledging that early detection goes a long way in saving lives.
He stated that though the treatment of the disease is capital intensive, urged the Federal Ministry of Health to ensure the prompt release of 400million naira appropriated in the 2011 budget for the establishment of cancer centres in Nigeria.
The octogenarian added that this experience prompted him to take up the challenge of embarking on massive campaign for early detection and treatment of cancer.© 2014Nollywoodgists.com
