NO CONTROVERSY OVER FILM FESTIVAL, SAYS JIDE KOSOKO
Contrary to the rumour making the rounds that the Yoruba World Film Festival (Yorufest) has been put off, the convener and president of Association of
Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Prince Jide Kosoko, has declared that the festival with the theme, Promoting Language To Preserve Culture, will still hold between 17 and 20 April, 2008.
Kosoko said the event, which has former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as its grand patron, will involve Africans in diaspora and Yoruba sons and daughters, living in other parts of the world.
While congratulating Tinubu on his investiture as the National Ambassador of the World Yoruba Festival and Culture, organised by Isembaye Media, publishers of Alaroye, a Yoruba newspaper, Kosoko said it is a well deserved honour which shows that Tinubu is a good leader both in office and out of it.
“Since Alaroye is a friend of the house, I have also mobilised my members to be part of the festival as there is no crime in having more than two festivals in the country. It is a welcome development.”
