NIGERIAN MOVIE PRODUCERS ARE NOT GOOD—KUNLE AFOLAYAN
Award winning film maker and actor, Kunle Afolayan, has said that the quality of films released into the market in the country is poor.
Speaking with Entertainment Cafe, the actor said that Nigeria's rating in the international movie scene is not a good one.
“Nollywood is rated as the third best in terms of the quantity of films released into the market and not for good quality. People say that Nollywood is the third best in the world, but we should ask ourselves, third best in terms of what? We are rated third best because of the number of films we release into the market and not because of their quality,” he observed.
The banker turned actor cum producer also said that a lot of things have gone wrong in the movie industry because of the influx of non professionals.
The actor, who went to a film school in the United Kingdom, also said that to be able to do things the right way, one has to acquire enough knowledge, adding that “most of our films in the market have the same story line as well as the same faces.”
Kunle's film, Irapada, which premiered at the Silverbird Galleria, according to him, was done to change the face of movie making in Nigeria.
The well publicised film also premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France is yet to be released on VCD.
