Bukky Wright, Joke Silva honored
PRETTY actress Bukky Wright, the producer of the highly intellectual and entertaining movie- “Omotara Johnson,” has been honoured as the Best Nollywood Actress of the Year at the recently concluded Great Women Post Independence Lecture and Award held on October 29, 2011 at the prestigious Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry hall, Alausa, Ikeja-Lagos.
According to Laurelsize, the organizers of the award, the actress was unanimously selected for the award on the benchmark of her leadership capacity and contributions to the movie world despite the economic meltdown confronting the nation. It also said further that Bukky deserves the honour for being a role model to many up and coming movie actresses and even to the popular ones.
The elated actress was at the event in person to wittingly receive the deserving award.
Veteran actress, Joke Silva, who was decorated with the Best Actress of Our Time Award in the previous edition of the event, was a guest speaker at the event as she spoke extensively on building the nation.
The event also unveiled Barrister Akpunonu,Vice President of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents as the Life Matron of Great Women Movement. While speaking at the event alongside Ogun State House of Assembly Member, Hon Adijat Adeleye, the unassuming barrister stressed the needs for a competitive atmosphere in order to altar a change in socio-political, economy and religious development.
The organizers have, however, promised to make next year's event a memorable one in the bid to celebrate great women who have contributed immensely in their various callings.
