WHY I’M SINGING FOR KORO –OBESERE
Self-acclaimed King of lewd lyrics (oba asakasa), Alhaj Qudus Abass Obesere, has come out to explain the reason why he waxed an album to support the gubernatorial ambition of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.
In a chat with showbiznow, Obesere said the album, entitled Koro, was his contribution to the ambition of a long-time friend and brother. “Most people don't know how long Koro and I have been together. But the fact is that the album is my own way of supporting a friend.”
Obesere said the 4-track album would be out this week. He however denies claims that he got money to make the album. “I can stand before you and say that I did not collect a dime from him. You can ask him, he didn't have to pay me to sing for him. I didn't do it for money.”
He however denied membership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the album was to support Obanikoro as a person. I am not a card-carrying member of any party. I have my fans in all the political parties, so why should I now follow one? All we want is good education for our kids and better life for our people.”
He maintained that he is not scared of any reprisal by other political parties, claiming that all the candidates are his friends. “How can I be scared? They are all my people and friends. They know that I don't hate them, and that I am only supporting a brother.”
Obesere, who recently returned from the holy pilgrimage to Mecca, vowed to continue to give his best to his fans across the country.
